On May 5, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Angélique Kidjo will take the stage at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium to premiere a reimagined version of the iconic 1980 Talking Heads album Remain In Light. A number of the musicians who will perform with Kidjo were recently revealed and the list includes young guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and the horn section from Antibalas.

Kidjo will also be joined by keyboardist Jason Lindner, vocalists Nona Hendryx and Kiki Hawkins, singers from the Kummunity Collaborations Choir, guitarists Lionel Loueke and Dominic James, bassist Ben Zwerin, drummer Yayo Serka and African percussionist Magatte Sow. Angélique discussed the inspiration behind her interpretation in a statement, “As Remain in Light was influenced by the music of my continent, I want to pay back the homage and create my own African take on Talking Heads’ songs. We all know that rock music came from the blues and thus from Africa. Now is the time to bring rock back to Africa, connect our minds, and bring all our sounds to a new level of sharing and understanding.”

Tickets are on sale now via the venue’s website.
