Andrew Bird will issue a new LP Are You Serious on April 1 through the Loma Vista record label. Today, a new single “Roma Fade” from the album has been released by the multi-instrumentalist.

Bird shared the following statement along with the single’s release:

Roma fade is about the wordless dialogue between the watcher and the watched and the fine line between romance and creepiness. In this song, “she” is a fortress of solitude, yet the observer can still affect her with his gaze. Whether the attention is welcome or not, something between them has changed. Notice how the song shifts from third person to first person near the end and it’s actually the observer who has transformed.

“Roma Fade” joins the previously shared singles “Left Handed Kisses” featuring Fiona Apple and “Capsized” which was debuted on Conan. The three songs are among the 11-tracks on Are You Serious, which Bird will tour behind beginning with a show at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on March 30. The tour will continue through North America and across Europe from late March through early May. Bird plans to donate $1 for every North American tour ticket sold to organizations working to end gun violence to build safer communities.
