Andrew Bird Releases Single Featuring Fiona Apple

Andrew Bird is set to release a new album entitled Are You Serious on April 1 through Loma Vista. Today, the multi-instrumentalist has shared a second single from the LP, “Left Handed Kisses” featuring Fiona Apple.

“My inclination was to write a song about why I can’t write a simple love song,” said Bird regarding the new single. “The song began as an internal dialogue. At first it was just my voice. Then another voice came creeping in and I thought ‘this should be a duet if I can find the right person.’ I needed to find someone really indicting. She was totally committed. The session was a long whiskey-fueled night – unhinged, for sure. All worth it, of course. I can’t write simple love songs. People are complex.”

Featuring 11-songs and a guest spot by guitarist Blake Mills, Are You Serious also includes the previously shared single, “Capsized” which was debuted on Conan. Stream “Left Handed Kisses” featuring Fiona Apple below:

Bird will tour North America and Europe in support of the new album, kicking off stateside at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on March 30. Bird plans to donate $1 for every North American tour ticket sold to organizations working to end gun violence to build safer communities.
