ALO Finds ‘Space Between Frames’ With Groovy New Single

ALO continues to preview their new album, Frames, with the release of the single “Space Between Frames.” The song is one of 10 tracks featured on the LP, which is due out on April 4 via Brushfire Records.

ALO — guitarist Lebo (Dan Lebowitz), bassist Steve Adams, keyboardist Zach Gill and drummer Ezra Lipp — recorded the follow-up to 2023’s Silver Saturdays last summer with close friend and collaborator David Simon-Baker. “The idea of frames – both literal and metaphorical – kept popping up in different ways,” explained Gill. One literal use of “frames” came in the retro-tinged “Space Between Frames,” which was penned by Lebo.

The funky new track features a timely message that serves as a reminder to pause and find stillness in these days of information overload. “So often we find ourselves trapped in a warp-speed life with frames of information coming at us faster than fire,” noted Lebo. “Some of it’s inspiring and some of it’s scary, but it’s all so rapid paced that we just can’t keep up. The space between frames is about finding that quiet place without so much noise, where we can actually reflect on what we want to be and what we want to offer the world.”

ALO are nearing the end of their annual Tour d’Amour. The 18th iteration of the West Coast-focused run resumes with a hometown show at The Fillmore in San Francisco tomorrow, Saturday, February 22. It’s then off to the Pacific Northwest to end the excursion with stops in Portland on February 27 and Seattle on February 28 and March 1.

After a trip to Colorado for shows in Denver on April 4 and Boulder on April 5, ALO kicks off an East Coast tour on April 22 in Wilmington, North Carolina. The quartet will hit Philadelphia, Woodstock (New York) and Brooklyn before closing the trek in Hartford on April 27.
