ALO's 18th Tour d’Amour resumed on Saturday at The Fillmore in the quartet’s hometown of San Francisco. The members of opening act Glitterfox came out early in ALO’s second set to join the headliners for rousing renditions of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” and Janis Joplin’s “Piece Of My Heart.”

Tour d’Amour XVIII began late last month and concludes in the Pacific Northwest next weekend. ALO — guitarist Lebo (Dan Lebowitz), bassist Steve Adams, keyboardist Zach Gill and drummer Ezra Lipp — tapped Portland, Oregon’s Glitterfox to serve as support for the West Coast-focused run.

Glitterfox’s Solange Igoa handled lead vocals on “You Oughta Know” and “Piece Of My Heart” as she did at earlier stops on Tour d’Amour XVIII. Igoa’s bandmates drummer Blaine Heinonen and bassist Eric Stalker provided harmony vocals and played percussion, while Andrea Walker strummed electric guitar on the covers.

The pair of collaborative covers followed a double dose of songs from ALO’s forthcoming studio album, Frames, which is set for release on April 4. The quartet kicked off their second set at The Fillmore with “Blank Canvas,” the LP’s lead single. Next came the live premiere of “Space Between Frames,” a single that dropped on Friday. Tea Leaf Green drummer Scott Rager contributed to “Space Between Frames” at The Fillmore.

Earlier in the night ALO delivered a first set heavy on fairly recent material including “Get To Do It Again,” “Separated, Come Together,” “Rescue Our Demons” and “Growing Your Hands Back.” Both “Separated, Come Together” and “Rescue Our Demons” are featured on Frames. The opening stanza also saw the band perform oldies “Blew Out The Walls” and “IV Song” along with a cover of New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle.”

After Glitterfox’s appearance, ALO fit The Moody Blues’ 1986 hit within the beloved “Barbecue.” From there, the four-piece treated fans to “Not Old Yet” and “Cowboys and Chorus Girls” before serving up a set-closing “Room For Bloomin'” complete with a “Tequila” jam. The band returned for a three-song encore featuring “Storms And Hurricanes,” “Rewind” and “Lady Loop.”

ALO returns to the stage on Thursday night in Portland, Oregon. Tour d’Amour XVIII then ends with a two-night stand at Seattle’s Nectar Lounge on Friday and Saturday.
