Tomorrow marks the 25th anniversary of the final episode of The Tonight Show hosted by legendary comedian Johnny Carson. Beginning in 1962 Carson was a fixture on the American late night television talk show, hosting the NBC program for 30 successful years.

This installment of Sunday Cinema looks back at a pair of standout musical performances by The Allman Brothers Band on The Tonight Show with Carson as host. The two featured appearances took place in 1990 and again in 1991.

Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks, Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Allen Woody and Johnny Neel played two songs during their August 1, 1990 appearance, first offering a take on “Good Clean Fun.” They were also backed by eight members of The Tonight Show Brass, including Doc Severson, for a rendition of “True Gravity.”

A little over a year later, on October 9, 1991 The Allmans made a return to Burbank. Gregg led a similar lineup that featured percussionist Marc Quiñones in place of Neal for a take on “End Of The Line.” Severson and the brass section were once again recruited for the Charlie Parker tribute “Kind Of Bird.” Watch all four songs making up both appearances in the video below:
