On Saturday, both Phil Lesh & Friends and Alison Krauss took part in Willie Nelson‘s Outlaw Festival stop near St. Louis. Krauss joined the Grateful Dead bassist and his band for two songs at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights, Missouri as part of the Phil & Friends’ set.

Phil Lesh‘s band on Saturday featured guitarists Stu Allen and Cris Jacobs, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby and drummer John Molo. The five-piece opened with “Jack Straw,” “Brown-Eyed Women” and “Sugaree” before Alison emerged to add vocals and fiddle on “To Lay Me Down.” Lesh and his band went on to show off their improvisational prowess on “Eyes Of The World” and the pairing of “Help On The Way” and “Slipknot!.”

Alison Krauss re-joined the ensemble for a gorgeous rendition of “Morning Dew” after “Slipknot!.” Krauss and Allen dueted on Bonnie Dobson’s post-apocalyptic folk song, which was performed in the style of the Grateful Dead. Phil Lesh & Friends then went at it alone to cap the 90 -minute set with “Cumberland Blues.”
