Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard has formed a new band called Bermuda Triangle. The trio features Howard alongside singer-songwriters Jesse Lafser and Becca Mancari.
Bermuda Triangle will make their live debut next Wednesday, July 12 at a sold-out Basement East in Nashville. Howard told NPR Music that the set will include unreleased “sad dance hall music” written by all three members of the group and that plans for recording have yet to solidify.
“[D]rum machines, heavy harmonies and someone on a standup bass,” is how Mancari described Bermuda Triangle to NPR’s Ann Powers. “We just sit on each other’s porches and play music. It’s the music that I remember that I used to play before I even came to Nashville, when people just played for fun. That’s my side of the story at least.”
In 2015, Howard debuted a punk rock project called Thunderbitch. Mancari is expected to issue a new solo album enitled Good Woman later this year.
