Akron/Family is Seth Olinsky, Dana Janssen and Miles Seaton and is currently in the midst of editing and mixing a new LP for release in spring 2009.
The band is also planning a short run of late-December tour dates, culminating in a very special performance at the Knitting Factory in New York City on New Year’s Eve. This is the last show ever at the legendary venue’s Manhattan location, and the club has chosen the perfect band to close them out with a bang.
Read on to see what others have said about Akron/Family:
“They really PLAY together, truly messing with sound… Deep musical connection and skill… ild, instinctual experimentalism (Zep style wig-outs and shamanic incantations)… Heady, bodily, beautiful stuff.” –MOJO
“…now roaming all over a wide, open space where antique folk balladry, primal drone and explosive improvisation meet and melt in a woodland psychedelia that answers an age-old musical question: What if Pink Floyd gave birth to Ummagumma in The Band’s basement at Big Pink?” –Rolling Stone
Tour Dates:
12.28 Boston, MA – TT the Bears
12.29 Burlington, VT – Higher Ground
12.31 New York, NY – The Knitting Factory
