Keeping with a pre-tour promise, longtime AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams has confirmed his plans to retire from the legendary rock band who tonight will conclude their Rock Or Bust Tour. Williams finalized his decision to leave the group following tonight’s concert at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia in a newly shared video.
“I’m just ready to get off the road,” Williams says in the video. “It’s just my time. I’m happy, I just need family time now, [to] just chill out and not do this.”
In 1977 Williams replaced founding AC/DC bassist Mark Evans and has been a member of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band ever since. Recent years have seen several AC/DC lineup changes, with drummer Phil Rudd’s house arrest forcing his replacement and health issues causing founding guitarist Malcolm Young to leave the group and Brian Johnson to be replaced this year by Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose.
