Roger Waters To Headline Newport Folk Festival

In a surprising announcement, Newport Folk Festival organizers have announced Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters will headline this year’s festival. Waters’ first full set performance since 2013 will take place Friday, July 24 in Newport, Rhode Island.

Waters is expected to play a set specially put together for the occasion of his Newport Folk debut. Roger Waters joins a lineup that includes The Decemberists, Jason Isbell, Sufjan Stevens, First Aid Kit and many more. Friday tickets are still on sale but not expected to last long after today’s announcement.

The bassist embarked on The Wall Live Tour between 2010 and 2013, but Waters hasn’t played a full set since the end of that tour. Waters’ 1992 album Amused To Death will be re-issued on July 24, the same day he’ll play Newport Folk. The Newport Folk Festival runs July 24 -26 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island.
