Neil Young & Promise Of The Real Debut Cover Of ‘Volare’ As Part Of Italian Run Opener

At age 70 Neil Young has found the fountain of youth and it’s called Promise Of The Real. Ever since the legendary guitarist first teamed with the band featuring Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson last year, the Neil Young and Promise of The Real pairing has revitalized Young and led to a series of incredible shows. Last night Neil & POTR continued that trend as they kicked off the Italian leg of their current tour at Anfiteatro Camerini in Piazzola sul Brenta, Italy.

The most unexpected part of the performance came ten songs in when Neil and the band treated fans to a cover of the popular Italian song “Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu,” aka “Volare.” Lukas Nelson continued to show off his multi-lingual talents by leading the group through the cover which featured a hilarious introduction from Young in which he took credit for writing the tune. Other highlights included just the third “Like A Hurricane” of the year, the second “Helpless” of 2016 and third full band “Old Man.” Neil Young & POTR ended the night with two recently busted out songs: “Like An Inca” and “Here We Are In The Years.” The tour continues in Rome tomorrow.
