In 1987 rock legends Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead came together for a stadium tour that found the Dead backing Dylan as well as performing two sets of their own. Highlights from the run were captured for the 1989 live album Dylan & The Dead.
On October 23 Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads venue in San Rafael, California will host a tribute to Dylan & The Dead in the backyard. Phil’s friends for the performance will be guitarists Rob Eaton, Stu Allen, Ross James and Scott Law as well as keyboardist Rob Barraco, multi-instrumentalist Barry Sless and drummer John Molo.
“We never knew what Dylan was going to do onstage. We would come up with a plan and talk everything through and he would ALWAYS do something different…So, after awhile, we just stopped planning!” Lesh said of the Dylan & The Dead tour. Tickets for Phil Lesh & Friends’ tribute to Dylan & The Dead are on sale now via the venue’s website.
