New Wilco Due in June

New Wilco Record Slated for June Release

In Wilco's recent newsletter to fans, the band stated they are "making major progress on the upcoming soon-to-be-titled LP. They've been hunkered down in the loft with Jim Scott and are just about ready to start mixing. We've got it on the calendar for release in June."

Rolling Stone writer Austin Scaggs previewed a few tracks and said, "Let's just say that the record is sick... Great melodies, great lyrics, great playing and great sounds. You're gonna dig it!"

Wilco's live concert film "Ashes of American Flags" had its world premiere February 20 at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, Montana. It was screened last night as part of the Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco and that'll be followed by a showing at the 1st annual Chicago International Movies and Music Festival on March 9. Tickets for the Chicago premiere are available here.

More information about the film is available at The DVD release via Nonesuch Records is set for April 18. You can watch the trailer here:

Can't wait for the new album. Jeff Tweedy and Nels Cline are phenominal. I don't know why bnaylor is getting thumbs down, he's just stating his opinion, not bashing them.

Nels Cline is sublime...hey that rhymes! not really. He's amazing. They are amazing.

I wish that movie would have screenings in a few other cities/areas that would be "Wilco appropriate" (you feelin' me Harvard Square???? cmon!)

mooneystar, i think you actually hit it on the head. i tried to think of a way to describe seeing Nels play. his sound really is sublime, it's like a great glass of wine, warming and satisfying, teasing euphoria to make its presence.

The unfortunate part is that after putting out such an amazing album like sky blue sky I don't know if I'll be satisfied with anything.

I'd say Sky Blue Sky is closer to where they are now Porno,

Yankee Hotel was indeed groundbreaking, but very lo-fi and wierd to say the least (Tweedy was in the midst of his Vicodin addiction). With the addition of Nels, they have mellowed a bit but also toughened up the lead guitar spot.

Great news.....Yankee Hotel is when I first got into them and was the era of the 1st time i saw them live then discovered the earlier albums and have more than loved the last two can't wait to see them in bloomington! Just saw Tweedy solo in Urbana, everyone in the band is so versatile one of the best rock bands of our day indeed.

My favorite album is definitely Being There, but Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sums up there experimental sound while AM sums up there alt country side. Either way I would call all three a must have album.

Pornofunk, Try Yankee, A Ghost is Born or Sky Blue Sky, but you have to listen more than once. For a long time I only played the 2nd half of Foxtrot, but it grew on me and now I dig all Wilco, it gets kind of addictive

Really every Wilco album is great. Yankee Hotel takes the cake for me but Being There runs a close second. You could also go old school and check out Uncle Tupelo.
