Will Bernard with John Medeski, Andy Hess, Stanton Moore Tour

Will Bernard
Currently touring in support of his latest Palmetto release, Blue Plate Special, two-time Grammy nominated guitarist and composer, Will Bernard is joined by John Medeski (Medeski, Martin & Wood) on keyboards, Andy Hess (Gov't Mule, John Scofield) on bass and Stanton Moore (Galactic) on drums.

Will Bernard follows up his Grammy-nominated album Party Hats with the Palmetto Records release Blue Plate Special. The collective experience of the band makes them a veteran bunch. Their individual styles combine for a potent mix of vintage sounds and modern grooves.

Will has been involved with a host of boundary stretching groups, ranging from jazz and funk to world music and experimental music, with many stops in between. He has performed and recorded with The Stanton Moore Trio, Robert Walter's 20th Congress, Jai Uttal, Peter Apfelbaum's Hieroglyphic Ensemble and Groundation featuring Leroy Horsemouth Wallace. He was also a member of the group T.J. Kirk, with Charlie Hunter, and was featured on the 1997 Grammy nominated Warner Bros. release, If Four Was One.

Will Bernard Band Tour Dates:
March 20/SFJAZZ Spring Season/Great American Music Hall/San Francisco, CA
March 21/The Roxy/Los Angeles, CA
March 22/The Oriental/Denver, CO
March 23/Fox Theater/Boulder, CO
March 24/Hodi's Half Note/Fort Collins, CO

note to bands: unless your a bigger act looking to recapture the fun of playing in a small venue, DO NOT PLAY THE ROXY!

that place is the biggest pain in the ass to get to, even worse to park at. weeknights are tolerable, but weekends....forget about it.

I agree with the everyone on what a kick ass lineup. Will any body be able to get the recordings? Hit me because I would be very interested.

Great album first off, and cannot wait to catch these guys in LA during spring break. Bernard is great, gives medeski a little more space than scofield does. cant wait for the show

shit! the midwest always gets shafted when it comes to short, badass tours like this...that's what i get for living here. DOH!

In my eyes though, Will Bernand is one of the most unsung heroes of this scene. Who here has seen him and NOT been blown away? So modest, yet such a sick player - and he just funks it up with the best of them....

Since there is nowhere on Jambase to 'start' threads, I'm going to do a shameless plug for a radio show tonight that will feature Jamcruise 7 highlights -- Galactic, The New Mastersounds, KDTU, and many more.

11pm PST

If you like the funk, then you'll want to tune in!

Sure wish San Fran would get music like this. Oh yeah, it always does and that's why I live here. Is it being billed as Will Bernard & Friends? Should be Medeski & Friends or Moore & Friends.

youngphan, I'm Brian (or Big B for radio purposes). Ted is a good buddy of mine though. I think he's hosting Live Archive from 9pm - 11pm tonight though...

moephish .... Hopefully the show will play some of the Galactic theater set with Big Sam, Trombone Shorty and Walter "Wolfman" Washington ... Best set of JC 7, hands down! And that KDTU pooldeck set was so sick it made my nads vibrate. Will definitely tune in. Thanks for the heads up!

p.s. Cannot WAIT to see my boy Stanton at the Highline. Let alone the amazing Andy H!

Oh yes, for sure! That set with Wolfman is RIDICULOUS. The entire show is pretty much going to be funk -- with some others mixed in.

Great lineup. Wish I could make it to one of these.

youngphan... Check out The Dakota. It can be a pretty stuffy crowd sometimes, but you can sit at the bar "if your 21" for the late shows and check out some very good bands you might not have heard of. Also check out the Artist's Quater in St. Paul.
