ALO & Big Light Tour

ALO TOUR d'AMOUR III WITH BIG LIGHT

ALO :: 12.31 :: S.F. by Miller
ALO will be setting out on their third annual Tour d'Amour through California this February 7-15. The tour will begin at the opening weekend of The Fox Theater in Oakland where the band will support Michael Franti & Spearhead. San Francisco rockers Big Light will join ALO for the remainder of the tour after a recent sold-out pairing in S.F.

Being praised for their rousing performances during their recent New Years Eve shows (read our review here), critics raved that ALO is "a band with a crazy amount of hooks, buckets of charm and talent... exciting stuff that's not remotely hard to get into."

Continuing in the spirit of love, compassion and music, a portion of proceeds from the Tour d'Amour will be donated to Bay Area-based organization Music in Schools Today (MuST). MuST is the Bay Area's answer to the program-cutting crisis in music education, serving over 10,000 children and youth annually. A nightly raffle will feature donated prizes from tour sponsors such as Jay Alders, Zola Acai, Simple, Original Skateboards, Okoto and reapandsow.

ALO is dope!!! I saw their new years show and it was subtle but truly great. It's true they don't get out of Cali much, and that's a shame. I'd go to their Fox show except that Franti is headlining that show!?!?!?!

Posting in support of ALO leaving California! I remember when they came to GA, blew an amp and played acoustic (including the smooth and creamy peanut butter song!) until someone arrived with the spare.

I'm wondering if these guys are worth $20 to see...Everyone seems to like them so damn much. Are they any good? They're coming my way....

Hoodoo, well worth $20 for these fellas, great show, great musicianship, hot lady fans and a party crowd to boot. This is their usual February tour centered around V-day (check out the article on jambands.com in reference to the Brushfire X-mas Album). Sounds like they won't be in the road all that much this year so catch them when you can. If you want to check them out online archive.org has a bunch. I recommend Zellet/Duffy Wedding, World Cafe show from WXPN in Philly, and all shows in general Bay area.

Thanks Shambala...I'll check those shows out. I figured they'd have a lot of hot chicks at their shows with the Jack Johnson connection and all. I'll check out the shows you recommended.

We are truly blessed here in CA with these two bands. We should ALL be happy (FREAK OUT)with any shows that they play.... I hope they do make an effort to get out the places where there are new listeners, for their sake (but not mine). It is hard when Zach is in a band that has GLOBAL status, I imagine.

True that Boston Dan. The 1st show they had at the Fillmore is sickness, plenty of guests including a sweet "She's Mine" with Brett Dennen.

Have fun andrew..... do they let you rock out at the Van Duzer?? I remember being bummed when "danceable" bands played there, since they made you dance in the corners. Either way, it will be a blast!! Wish I could make it to my alma mater.

yeah, they are playing in the Van Duzer...it's true that some shows are not very "dance friendly", but this show will be different since students are helping put it on, including myself.

Nice Andrew and Natey! I'm also a Humboldt State Alum. I've seen many a show at Van Duzer, but like you remember Natey I may never have seen a show that was dance friendly. I remember seeing Wilco there, and David Grisman to name a couple that had people dancing on the side walls only. Still a great venue though. I'm sure ALO will be fun in there.

I hope ALO does a little more touring east this year. I missed an opportunity to see them locally a couple of years ago.... A mistake I will not make twice!
