Fleetwood Mac Return

The Mac is Back: Fleetwood Mac To Tour in 2009

Fleetwood Mac
The rumours have been circling for months, and today we learn the Mac is officially back. The supergroup has once again reunited and Fleetwood Mac will kick-off their tour at Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena on March 1, 2009. As one would expect, the tour will coincide with a new greatest hits compilation named Unleashed that will offer a few previously unreleased tracks and never before seen footage.

According to Pollstar.com, the band released the following group statement: "We love our band and think the title of the tour, 'Unleashed,' perfectly describes how we all feel when we get on stage together, especially in 2009. We're so happy to get back out on the road, perform everyone's favorite songs and see our fans."

While there has been no official word on the lineup, one assumes that Fleetwood Mac is Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Christine McVie left the group in 1997.

Tickets go on sale December 15 at Ticketmaster.com.

As much as I like Lindsey Buckingham solo work I just cant get into this version of the band. Good luck to them and this will probably be one of the most successful tours of next year. Now only if this was the Peter Green version.

Stevie Nicks' best performance was in the south park episode "Osama Bin Laden has Farty Pants" in my opinion.

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is the only Fleetwood Mac that's worth listening to.

Please stop w/the sarcastic comments. Fleetwood Mac is more than just Peter Green's version or the Rumours version. I saw them in 03, and I have to say, they put more energy into their show than most anyone I've ever seen, and I've seen them all. Don't hate until you've actually seen them w/an open mind and not an already negative vibe.

Speaking of Bonnaroo the last one I went to Tom Petty called Stevie Nick's on stage for at least half his set. Baaaaaaaa indeed....ruined the show.

I can't respect a band that uses studio musicians on tour, Lindsey has a guitar player to back him and Mick has another drummer, backround singers. If you can't hack it anymore don't charge over $100.00 and tell me its Fleetwood mac, this tour is about 1 thing and 1 thing only..$$$$$$$$$$$$!

Agree, they probably will headline Bonnaroo. Plus, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was 1000x's better. Bluesy, not poppy.

Dude maybe you guys are to young or maybe you just bash anyone with mainsteam sucess but, L.B. is a sick guitar player. Wake the f*ck up and listen before you trash something as like FM. Break the chain douche bags.

Zeus obviously you dont go on phantasy tour....which i want to beleive at least 50% of jambase users are on. Everyones a hater, but everyone that hates has no affect on how amazing this news is. Im only 24, my parents have been jamming fleetwood for years...lindsay buckingham is hot fire. I will def be at at least one tri-state show depending on any other tours. Also I want to beleive that the biscuits and fleetwood mac collaberated not to have overlapping tours...booo yacka shaaa

I would like to go to this to say I have seen Fleetwood Mac. Anyone who bashes on them just doesnt understand. Also, I would much rather see Fleetwood Mac as a headliner at Bonnaroo than lets see...Jack Johnson, Kanye West, The White Stripes, Ben Harper, The Flaming Lips, Elvis Costello, Death Cab for Cutie, or the Dave Matthews Band. In case you guys havent gotten the memo, Bonnaroo has been a joke since 2004. Get over it, the hippies lost.

Geez...wher is the respect for one of the greatest and most infuential bands ever. First off....Lindsey Buckingham plays guitar like a demon. Who the hell cares if there are backup musicians. Fleetwood Mac are all about texture and harmony. It's hard to pull off what they did on album on the live stage, so it is no big surprise that they use backup musicians. Secondly, who in rock has a better female rock voice then Stevie Nick?? 'nuf said....get over yer hating. It's a good live show.

Zeus - Are you arguing that people who hate something that is mainstream need to wake up and break the chains? You are using the wrong expressions to defend something that is mainstream. Too young? Well obviously your age hasn't blessed you with intelligence if I were to only base it on your blogging ability. There is no point to a message board if it is a unanimous kiss ass to whatever artists. So get over it and post something more intelligible next time.

This band does charge quite a bit for a ticket. I noticed Memphis was not listed in the tour dates. They were suppose to play a show at the Pyramid but they had to cancel the show. They blamed it on the weather, but it was really due to low ticket sales.

Wow...more hatin' on bands.

How original.

Hmmn...I can't think of anything interesting to say so I might as well log in to hate.

You guys are great. Keep up the OG thugness.

I'm not hatin'. I love some FleetwoodMac. I keep one of their greatest hits in my car at all times. I just wish they would lower the ticket price so I could see them live.

Smashy you are obviously an idiot. If you can not understand something just ask for an explanation. Do not ASSume that your interpretation is correct and then go on to bash peoples opinion. I was merely suggesting that people listen to the music before they decide it sucks. Just because a band is old or mainstream does not mean they suck. Break the chain of judgement TOOLIO!

My parents are huge Mac fans and I look forward to heading to the show with them, which is something I rarely get to do. Yeah, it would be nice to see Peter Green's version or see Mac in the 70's but I'm not gonna complain. To each their own.

Seriously, over haters right now. This is Fleetwood Mac. Get over yourselves people. This is AWESOME news for FM fans. And yes of course if we could go back to the 70's and see them in their hay day that would be awesome but it's about to be 2009, I wasn't alive in the 70's and I am EFF'ING stoked I might have the chance to see them in my lifetime.
