deklen - no, i couldn't see deadheads for mccain, but it is sad that people don't see that mccain, obama, clinton and bush are all cut from the same cloth.. they're just puppets for the elite interests that pull the strings behind the scenes.

on a more related note - two shows in early may at the phillmore in denver!! woot woot!

People may see that all candidates are basically one in the same but you have to love american politics where you choose the lesser of all the evils.....wouldn't it be nice to see more than a two party system that is controlled by lobbyist and private interests......what planet am i on again

why did i get so many damn thumbs down for that comment? because people don't like to hear that their cultish adoration for obama is for naught? tough shit, should have thought about that earlier on in the race..

barack obama is not the great hope that everyone makes him out to be. he is a corporate puppet, from the same factory as the other puppets, meant to distract the well-intentioned young people who really want change in this country, but don't like having to dig deep for the truth. obama will give you an easy but hollow fix. the man doesn't even address the fundamental problems that this country is facing. and if anyone doesn't know this, zbigniew brzyzinksi (one of the most notorious neo-cons in d.c.)is his foreign policy advisor.

give me all the 'thumbs down' you like, it won't change the fact that obama is elite scum just like the rest of them. welcome to the new world order.

moejoerisin where did you come from? You're right man, so unfortunately right. It doesn't matter who holds the place of executive director so long as the current systems stays as is; there will always be stratification, oppression, intolerance, and environmnetal destructione. HOWEVER, if one were to be a reformist, meaning they believe this systems is "all we have" and "it cant get any better (so sad)" Obama is the best...we'll just have to see if he can walk the talk which no person in that position has really EVER done

Yeah manlejo, Lincoln was a slave owner period...he did a lot as an abolitionist, but he owned slaves like the rest of' as juice9 said this board is maybe not the best for political debates, but there is no way justice, equity, PEACE, environmnetal sustainability, or respect will be felt by ALL inhabitantsn of this country under the boundaries set by the current system...HOWEVER, GD love is still alive w/Phil and the Warfield will be sick AND for those that haven't heard this maybe a closing of the Warfield party (hence all the GD stats phil lists on his site) word is it may be turned to a house of blues?! ...and (unfortunately) corporate rule wins again in the US

Mojoerisin speaks the truth. President ( fill in the blank ) will always be a puppet head, bowing to the will of big buisness and the almighty dollar.

Be well

In rebellion to the shitty candidates all across the board, we should organize a revolt and have everyone write themselves in for president. I'll be voting for myself.

A lot of this candidate talk sounds like 2000 all over again. If you think that Gore would have been exactly the same as Bush I must disagree. And that is the same for these candidates. In our system you choose the lesser of the two evils, and thats better than voting for someone who doesn't matter and the greater of the two evils getting into office. In my mind Obama is the lesser of the evils out there and would do things very differently than McCain!

Your just mad beacuse I knocked Krieger. Soryy to offend you. I most def. respect the doors and what they did for music, and I certainly think it's awsome that he is still playing music and especially in a different genre than he used to play. All I was saying, was I didn't think he was a Great guitarist. Just my opinion. Sorry for being negative.

I do think they should stay out of picking sides. Jerry would have never publicly endorsed a candidate. If he did though, it would be more someone like Ralph Nadar. That's just my opinion. I actually thought Ron Paul has made the most sense, but he doesn't have the money or power. He actually started out as a Liberatarian, but needed to join one of the two parties to stand a chance.

Ron Paul does make the most sense, albeit not perfect. If he got backing from someone as influential as Phil, maybe he would have more of a chance (although most of his support is already from able minded young folks like ourselves). Very weak choice by backing Obama.. support someone who REALLY believes in change, whether it is Paul or some other unknown reformer in need of some publicity.

To say that politics and music don't mix is just sorta wrong. But make no mistake---the Grateful Dead used to stand for indifference when it came to politics. During Viet Nam they probably were most in line with the Kesey philosophy that basically said 'Turn your head and say "Fuck it."' Kesey had a right to say that---he had actually fought in the war, and I think the Grateful Dead had a right to symbolically stand for the same message in their music, which was all about 'death of ego.' That's what the Stealy symbol stands for, right? All that being said, its obvious that Phil feels pretty strongly about Obama. If you were at any of his 2002-03 shows, you know he felt that same passion for organ donation. I appreciate Phil for using his passion and position to influence like-minded thinkers--even if it doesn't work, or if certain members of the crowd ain't like-minded. It shows balls and purpose. I would appreciate, however, if the Warfield shows were apolitical. For people that aren't from the Bay area, or the West coast for that matter, that venue is too special for politics. Because regardless of politics, venues, line-up changes, or whatever, Grateful Dead music will inspire people forever...whatever that inspiration may lead to.

To Chuckus,

Kesey didn't fight in the Vietnam war. It was his buddy Babbs and some of the other pranksters, I forget their names. Not trying to knock you are anything but at least let's get the facts straight.

I don't think he was in the military at all. It was the other Pranksters that were in the military. This link might be a good read in regard to the Pranksters,

Not to change the subject....I am hearing that the Warfield is about to be sold by CC. It will soon become a House of Blues. Jerry's Church a House of that is something to get up in arms about, not the once every four year beauty pagent we call the run for the White House. Does anyone else have any info on this?

You know what else we should get up in arms about. Ticketbastard! I know its old news but I just got my tickets for one of these shows. One $45.00

ticket, $10.00 convenience charge, and a $5.00 processing fee. $15.00 charge for one ticket.

Phil, WSP, and any of the other big jamband names. Please boycott this shit. I will never buy another ticket through them ever again. It was bad enough when it was just the convience charge, but processing too.

Maybe they should change the name of the Warfield to the Church of capitolism. Actually I'm pretty sure the Warfield will remain as the "Warfield". It is just going to change production companies and still bilk us by forcing us to use Ticketmaster. These charegs will kill the industry.

I am very saddened that the surviving members of the Dead have decided to become pawns of a political party and a political candidate. The socialism of the Democratic Party and Barack Hussein Obama run counter to the libertarian ideals that many of us longtime Deadheads share.

I stay away from political music, and I find it hard to listen to any of these guys anymore.
