“Welch and Rawlings apart – it’s hard to recall two modern country voices that dovetail as elegantly as this husband and wife team… A dream.” – Uncut
Throughout February and March 2008, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion will perform as a duo for headlining dates on both the West and East Coasts, and will support Greg Brown on some select North Carolina shows. The duo tours in support of their debut collaborative album, Exploration, and Irion’s recently recorded solo effort, Ex Tempore.
The granddaughter of legendary folk music icon Woody Guthrie, and daughter of Arlo Guthrie, Sarah Lee Guthrie and her songwriter-guitarist husband Johnny Irion (Dillon Fence, Queen Sarah Saturday) are an Americana jewel, and pure talents on the order of Emmylou Harris, Nicolette Larson and early Neil Young. The duo is readying new songs for their upcoming sophomore album together to be released in early 2009.
Check out JamBase’s interview with Johnny Irion where he discusses Ex Tempore and their approach to music making.
