Madi Diaz brought a five-song set to NPR Music’s latest Tiny Desk Concert. The singer-songwriter and guitarist went solo acoustic for songs from her past three albums.

After making her debut on Tiny Desk (Home) Concert in early 2022, Diaz opened her Tiny Desk Concert in-person premiere with two cuts off her 2025 album, Fatal Optimist, beginning with “Feel Something” followed by “Heavy Metal.”

“Like much of her work, they’re songs about seekers navigating the messy human experience — the ways we overly romanticize young love, the passing of time, and the inevitability of growing older and becoming your parents,” NPR’s Robin Hilton wrote of the opening songs.

Hilton also noted that “God Person,” taken from 2024’s Weird Faith, brought some of the audience members at NPR HQ to tears. Madi then delivered that album’s “For Months Now” before closing the session with “Think Of Me,” from her acclaimed 2021 LP History Of A Feeling.
