Plant & Krauss U.S. Dates

Plant & Krauss
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, whose Raising Sand (review here) album has emerged as one of the past year's major critical and word-of-mouth sales success stories, will begin an extensive U.S. and European tour April 20 with a brief run of dates in the mid-South. The two lauded musicians will then embark on an 11 date tour of Europe in May before commencing more North American dates for June and July (to be announced). With a band led by Raising Sand producer T Bone Burnett, they will be performing songs together onstage from Raising Sand, as well as other songs from their careers.

Previewing the tour, on February 11, CMT will air "CMT Crossroads: Robert Plant and Alison Krauss," featuring performances of songs from Raising Sand as well as material from both artists' extensive catalogs.

Raising Sand debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart following its October 23 release on Rounder Records and was certified RIAA Gold soon after. "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)," the first single from Raising Sand, was nominated for a Grammy in the category of "Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals." The song is the only track from the album eligible for this year's Grammy Awards. The album and subsequent tracks from Raising Sand will be eligible for nominations next year, at the 51st annual awards.

It WILL happen damn it! Zep at the roo! My prediction is that on day 2 plant and krauss open for Zep on the main stage! Willie Nelson is the only confirmed bonnarooer but Zep will play......They WILL PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no Zep at the Roo. I heard the rumors about that for a while now, and i wouldn't hold my breath on it. The most recent rumor I read was that the 4 big acts at roo are gonna be Dave mathews Band, Widespread panic, Pearl Jam(i know they've been rumored for the last 3 years, but they already mentioned it in an interview last month) and also Trey playing a late night set, being billed as his "return" to live shows. Zepplin is great, but I'm curious to see how good they can perform at this stage in their career. I saw Robert Plant open for the Who about 5 years ago, and he seemed REALLY old back then. but, I guess we'll see what happens.

ALSO---On Wikipedia, they already have Pearl Jam listed as the headliner for 2008. If Zep was to do it, I think they would be billed as the "headliner" over Pearl Jam. I'm not going back to Bonnaroo unless they do a Talking Heads reunion there, or something huge like that.

chidodger, was the Who show in suburban Chicago, by any chance? I saw that tour there and thought Plant was pretty good. I also saw Plant and Page with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra a while before that, and even though they totally drowned out the poor classical players, they ripped it up in general. I read a positive review of the recent Zep London show in New Yorker mag. This is a nice recording- some cool songs. Too bad so few US dates.

Actually, yes, it was at the world music theatre in Tinley Park. I was sitting in the lawn twords the top. Up there, it didn't sound too good (not just Plant, the Who sounded a little shitty also). I also remember from that show, the Who screwed up a song about 6 minutes into it, and then decided to stop, and restart the song. Do you remember that happening? It was an oddball Who song if I recall, not one of the bigger hits, and it ultimatly led to longer beer and bathroom lines.

If Zep does not do Bonaroo will it be considered a failure?

No, zep or no zep, bonnaroo will always sell tickets and always make money. Another good question is; If Zepplin is there, what are tickets gonna cost???? I'm guessing at least 350 to 400 for a 3 day pass. Tool and Police were the main reason the ticket prices shot up last summer because of how much each act wanted to get paid. So, what do you think Zepplin will ask for? If daft punk got $125000 for an hour and a half at Vegoose, imagine what Zepplin will want..........

Zep at Bonnaroo is thing we need!! Were any one at Bonnaroo '02, '03, or '04 for that matter?? What happened to the line ups? We need more JamBands in my opinion. Now let all you tell me I'm a moron, but hey at least I stay true to what type of music I like. ( I mean, I 'like' Led Zep, but not for Roo) Bonnaroo was the shit the first years, and wouldn't that be great to get the artists that made this site what it is, back in TN.. (talking bout, moe,Umph,YMSB,STS9,Any Member of PHISH/DEAD, MMW,ROBERtR., I meant I like some classics, buy please I don't want to pay $500 for a tick.

According to a very close source, I hear that Daft Punk will donate their paychecks for Bonnaroo if they get to DJ the drums for the Zepp set. I guess that'll piss off Dave Grohl who will have to settle for filling in as a guest drummer for the Beatles (McCartney, Grohl, Sean Lennon, and Christ) when they play on Sat night. Which in turn pisses off Ringo who I heard is planning a terror attack on the whole damn thing because he got screwed...

i've heard similar news icculus--like how todd nance is planning to exhume ike turner's body and use the carcass as a drumstick to beat his wife in a very tight, metronomical fashion over john bell's hot wing solo

To date no major production company has been approached about a Zep Tour (staging, production, sound and lighting and all that). Given industry lead time it would be at least 6 months from that point till a tour could be mounted.

seems everyone cares about ZEP and not PK. hahahaha.

pk album was boring as hell to me. I would not buy it, or encourage anyone to do so. however, I love jose gonzales albums, and many would think he is boring as well, tho not to me :)

why would they even want to play at bonnaroo?

Bonnaroo isnt the same as when it started, but for the people that love Bonnaroo, I wouldn't think you would want a name like Zep there. Wouldn't they draw a lot of people who could give a crap about everything else at the festival? Seems to me like too many people would go to see Zeppellin and bail on the rest of the weekend.
