Earlier this month Medeski Martin & Wood completed their first tour with guitarist Nels Cline.
Unfortunately for those of us stateside, the tour took place in Europe. We've been waiting
for a taste of what the quartet was laying down in Europe and came across a crispy live
recording of a recent show featuring a jaw-dropping, hour-long jam.
The recording, which was posted on NateLewBootlegs's SoundCloud page, comes from an April 7 show in
Lugano,
Switzerland. Following an introduction, Nels, Billy, John and Chris quickly get after it.
The ensemble explore a number of fascinating soundscapes over the course of the hour and
this pristine recording lets us hear all of the jam's dynamics. Take a listen:
