Back in January we shared a report that Jack White would team with Neil Young for a new album filled with covers. Today, more details have been revealed as Billboard reports that White will appear on two tracks of Young’s A Letter Home LP.

When can we expect the release of A Letter Home? “It’s not ready for prime time yet,” Young tells Billboard about the cover-filled LP. “It’s not really a release yet, but it’s a very unique record. It’s like a time capsule. It doesn’t sound like anything you’ve heard that was made recently. And some great songs, some beautiful music.”

Neil also told Billboard that he’s working on original music as well, with no timeframe given for its release. “I have new songs that I’m working on, and I haven’t stopped doing that,” Young explained. “I do it when I feel like it and I’m collecting them. And sometimes I play them live before they come out as a record, and because of the way everything is people hear them before they come out, on the Internet. But I still feel like I’m gonna make records of them.”

Young expresses his interest in an orchestral project, shares an update on his new book and more in the new interview.
