Last year Fiyawerx Productions presented the first annual Fiya Fest, which featured
an insane lineup. But they've upped the ante for the 2014 installment as the just-
announced lineup is ridiculous. Fiya Fest 2014: A Crawfish Boil and Benefit for the Roots of Music is scheduled for Friday, May 2 at Mardi Gras World in New Orleans.
Fiya Fest is known for interesting pairings and the 2014 lineup will be headlined
by a number of them including Maceo Parker with Eric Krasno, Nikki Glaspie,
Nigel Hall, Calvin Turner and The Shady Horns, a band dubbed "GRITTS" featuring
George Porter Jr, Roosevelt Collier, Ivan Neville, Tony Hall, Terrence Houston, Big
Sam and Sam Kininger and "The Headhunters Superjam" with Mike Clark, Bill
Summers, Donald Harrison, Bernie Worrell, Blackbyrd McKnight , Fred Wesley, Karl
Denson and Doug Wimbish. Also on the bill for the full-day, three-stage event
are "The Midnite Disturbers" with Stanton Moore, Big Sam, Ben Ellman, Mark Mullins,
Shamarr Allen, Kevin O'Day and Matt Perrine featuring Rahzel, Brandon TAZ
Nierderhauer and The Roots of Music as well as The Revivalists with
Mike Dillon, Carly Meyers, Pete Murano, Jen Hartswick, Khris Royal and Maggie
Koerner plus Frequinox with Donald Harrison, Stanton Moore, Robert Mercurio,
Robert Walter and Will Bernard.
Other acts set to perform at Fiya Fest 2014 include The Nth Power, The Mike
Dillon Band, Eddie Roberts' West Coast Sounds, 101 Runners, Corey Henry's Treme
Funktet and The Heard with The Houseman. The lineup also features Eric
Lindell, Clint Maedgen, Marco Benevento, David Shaw, Cyril Neville, Corey Glover, Eric
McFadden, Papa Mali and Billy Iuso and DJ Logic manning the decks.
Look for more details, including ticketing info, to be announced soon.
