Full Show Friday | Brock Butler In Florida

Even when Perpetual Groove was on the road playing over a hundred shows a year, front man Brock Butler always found time to play solo acoustic gigs. Brock has exquisite taste in music spanning the '60s to albums that came out last week and offers those who attend his solo shows a jukebox-like experience when it comes to the setlist. He knows what tunes fit his range and the atmosphere of his solo gigs and has a fantastic knack for connecting with the crowd.

Now that Perpetual Groove has been mothballed, Butler has started playing acoustic shows more regularly. Last week Brock headed down to Florida for a series of five solo gigs. One of these performances took place in the jungle-like setting of Guanabanas in Jupiter, where videographer Mark Duclos captured the Virginian's set. Brock seems in fine form as he took opportunities to stroll through the crowd and even sang a bit of Tom Petty's "Wildflowers" to the youngest attendee (see photo above). Included in Butler's set were stunning takes on "Nothing But Our Love" (Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.), Dear Prudence (The Beatles), P.S. You Rock My World (Eels), Big Country (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) and a finale of his own anthem "Three Weeks."
