ATHFEST SAMPLER SHOW TO BE HELD JUNE 11 AT MELTING POINT

Verizon Wireless presents the eleventh annual AthFest 2007 from Wednesday, June 20 through Sunday, June 24 in historic downtown Athens, GA, on Washington Street across from the 40 Watt Club.


Perpetual Groove
Over 150 bands and artists, representing the best in regional and national talent, will perform on two outdoor stages and in an evening “club crawl.” This year’s headlining artists on the outdoor stages include: PERPETUAL GROOVE, THE WHIGS and DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS. Performers on the outdoor stages are FREE of charge, and include: WARM IN THE WAKE, THE WINTER SOUNDS, SQUAT, KIMBERLY MORGAN & THE EVERLOVIN’ BAND, SLEEPY HORSES, 8-TRACK GORILLA & THE LOVE HANDLES, BEYOND TOMORROW, JACKPOT CITY, DIVINE MAGGEES, STILL, SMALL VOICE & THE JOYFUL NOISE, BANG BANG BANG, LITTLE COUNTRY GIANTS, JAZZ CHRONIC, PASSAFIRE, SHORT ROAD HOME, JASON HARWELL, THE CORDUROY ROAD, WAMPUS CAT SCANNERS, DAVID DONDERO, and LAKE CITY. The club crawl comprises 19 music venues, including the 40 Watt Club, Georgia Theatre, Caledonia, The Melting Point, Tasty World and more. Performers include JACK LOGAN, SOUTHERN BITCH, DEAD CONFEDERATE, DON CHAMBERS & GOAT, MODERN SKIRTS, THE BEARFOOT HOOKERS, DAVE BARBE, THE SQUALLS, TIME TOY, TIN CUP PROPHETTE and many more. Wristbands for the club crawl are only $15.

Special events at this year’s AthFest include: Flagpole Music Awards at the Morton Theater on June 21 at 8:00 p.m.; The Earth Will Swallow You, an exhibition at the Lyndon House, with visual insights on Widespread Panic, from June 15 to August 25; Sprockets Music & Video Show, presented by Film::Athens, June 20 at 40 Watt Club; Self Made, a touring group of three visual artists from San Francisco, presented by ATHICA, on June 21; TeenScreen FilmFest and Benefit Concert presents a lineup of diverse short films made by local teenage artists; RockDocs, a series of documentary films covering a wide range of musical genres with guest filmmakers and musicians, at Ciné June 15 to June 26; and a free Juried Artisan Market from June 22 to June 24. KidsFest, held June 23 and 24 from noon to 6:00 p.m., includes a stage for musical performances, Sam Path’s Petting Zoo, and a demo from the Classic Martial Arts Club. KidsFest is free of charge.
