Christine McVie To Rejoin Fleetwood Mac

Ever since former Fleetwood Mac keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie reunited with her old mates to sing “Don’t Stop” in London this past September rumors have been flying that McVie would rejoin the band in a more official capacity. On Saturday night we had our clearest sign yet that McVie will be back in the Mac, when Mick Fleetwood told a crowd in Maui that, “this is the worst kept secret there is, but Christine McVie will be rejoining Fleetwood Mac.”

There’s no official word beyond what Mick said in Maui, but we expect the band to release a statement soon. Christine McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and was part of the group’s lineup during their high-profile Rumours era. She stayed with the band through their late ’90s reunion, but left Fleetwood Mac soon thereafter in what was dubbed a “retirement.”

McVie suffers from travel anxiety and we’re hoping this means she’s but those issues behind her. Soon after her appearance with the band in September, Christine told The Guardian that she’d like to rejoin the group. Stevie Nicks quipped to Billboard, “If Chris wants to come back to the band, I said to her, ‘It’s your band. I don’t really think you have to ask. Because it’s your band. McVie. Fleetwood Mac-vie? So, it all depends, Chris, on you. How you feel. Do you want to take this on again?’”

Currently Fleetwood Mac is on hiatus while bassist John McVie is treated for cancer. Mac insiders peg summer 2014 as a return for the band with Christine on as a full-time member.
