The Zac Brown Band continued their Down The Rabbit Hole Tour this past weekend with two shows at Citi Field in New York City. Zac Brown & Co. worked a pair of rare covers into Sunday night’s finale at the home of the New York Mets.
The group opened their 20-song main set with originals “Homegrown,” “Day For The Dead” and “Toes” before performing Kings Of Leon’s “Use Somebody” as the first cover of the evening. A run of “Keep Me In Mind,” “Highway 20 Ride” and “Uncaged” was then followed by renditions of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” by The Charlie Daniels Band. A bit later, Florida native Caroline Jones emerged to help sing “Day That I Die.”
Zac Brown and his band showed love for New York native Billy Joel by dusting off a cover of “Piano Man” for the first time since June 11, 2017 and just the fourth time in the past four years. One night earlier the ZBB honored Joel with a rendition of “The Longest Time,” a cover they debuted on opening night of the tour. Another surprise followed as the Zac Brown Band offered the tour debut of beloved original “The Wind.” The group focused on originals to end the set with the exception of a rollicking take on The Allman Brothers Band’s “Whipping Post.”

Last night’s encore started in typical fashion for the tour, as the Zac Brown Band served up a medley of covers showcasing the different members of the group including ZZ Top’s “Tush,” Elton John’s “Bennie & The Jets” and “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys. However, the ZBB tacked on a fierce rendition of “Killing In The Name” by Rage Against The Machine. The group last performed “Killing In The Name” on March 31, 2015 in Melbourne as per Setlist.FM’s records.
