Yonder Mountain String Band Welcomes Keller Williams In Kentucky

On Thursday night Keller Williams played his latest “Shut The Folk Up & Listen” show with Leo Kottke in Cincinnati. Williams crossed the river into Covington, Kentucky after his performance to guest with Yonder Mountain String Band at the Madison Theater.
Keller emerged to aid Yonder on their cover of Norweigan duo Röyksopp’s 2002 single “Remind Me.” Williams added beatboxed vocals and “mouth trumpet” to the cover which was led by YMSB bassist Ben Kaufmann. Watch a clip of the guest spot:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BQCgJydg5TpYonder Mountain String Band’s two hour set included a number of memorable sequences including “Kentucky Mandolin” > “Drawing A Melody” > “Kentucky Mandolin” and fitting “Eat In Go Deaf Eat Out Go Broke” within a cover of “Scent Of A Mule” by Phish. The five-piece also worked covers of Ween’s “Help Me Scrape The Mucus Off My Brain” and Linda Ronstadt’s “You’re No Good” into the main set. YMSB followed up “Remind Me” with a quick version of “Boots” to end the evening. Next up for Yonder is a show at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina on Friday night.
