Hines’ Finds Volume 4 is now available.
Yonder Mountain String Band released the live compilation Hines’ Finds Volume 4 this Friday, May 1. The nine-track set is available for free streaming via the band’s Soundcloud page and can be downloaded through nugs.net.
Audio engineer Ben Hines selected the tracks featured on the latest installment of the series which bears his name from the band’s first tour of 2020. Yonder Mountain String Band’s recent winter tour saw the introduction of new member, Nick Piccinni. The multi-instrumentalist plays mandolin and fiddle and sings lead vocals on certain tracks. “With Nick and [fiddler] Allie [Kral], there is a fire being rekindled. It’s hard to put into words, but it’s amazing to feel,” explained bassist Ben Kaufmann.

Hines’ Finds Volume 4 contains a mix of covers and originals. The former includes takes on the Minutemen’s “Corona,” John Hartford’s “Two Hits And The Joint Turned Brown,” Led Zeppelin’s “Misty Mountain Hop” and “Oklahoma” by JJ Cale. Piccinni handles lead vocals on “Oklahoma.” Originals featured on the compilation are “Insult & An Elbow,” “Allison,” “Cherokee Shuffle,” “Idaho” and “Cetal” – a new metal-tinged tune. “As always, we are thankful for the opportunity to share our music with you and look forward to seeing you soon,” reads a statement from YMSB. “Stay safe!”
