Yo La Tengo’s concert Monday at the Teragram Ballroom wrapped a three-show run at the Los Angeles venue. The encore featured members of The Sadies sitting in for the final two songs of the night.

Yo La Tengo are on tour in support of their excellent new album, This Stupid World, and five of its songs were played in the first set. Another two songs off the nine-track album made it into the second set. The rest of the setlist was filled in with selections from eight other albums in the trio’s extensive catalog, plus a cover of Sun Ra’s “Nuclear War” that saw multi-instrumentalist James McNew joining drummer Georgia Hubley on a second kit.

The encore began with a rare appearance of The Shangri-Las’ “Heaven Only Knows.” The Sadies guitarist Travis Good, who was a guest at one of YLT's 2022 Hanukkah shows, was then brought out to join a cover of Love’s “A House Is Not A Motel.” Good’s bandmate, drummer Mike Belitsky, then came onstage for the final song of the night, a cover of Gene Clark’s “Tried So Hard.”

Yo La Tengo’s tour resumes on March 9 with the first of two shows at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina. Watch audience-shot video footage of Travis Good joining Ira Kaplan on guitar for “A House Is Not A Motel” and other clips from last night’s gig in L.A. below:
