Yo La Tengo will bring their traditional Hanukkah Run back to Bowery Ballroom in New York City over the eight nights of the holiday Sunday, November 28 – Sunday, December 5. Each concert will feature a surprise opener and comedic performance before the trio takes the stage.
The tradition started in 2001 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, New Jersey and continued through 2012 as the club closed the following July. Yo La Tengo resumed the tradition from 2017 – 2019 at Bowery Ballroom. The three-piece offered a stripped-down Hanukkah celebration in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Tickets for all eight shows go on sale this Friday, October 8 at 12 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will be required.

Shammash-ing Time!
Hi everybody, here to tell you that Hanukkah is just around the corner. (No kidding–it’s early this year!) And that we are going to return to the Bowery Ballroom and play all eight nights, just like we did before life got in the way. Comics, opening acts, whatever other nonsense we can cobble together, and the money will be given away. I’d consider writing more, but it still feels a little unreal to be contemplating this. And yet here we are.
Hanukkah starts on Sunday, November 28 and continues through Sunday, December 5. You must be fully vaccinated to enter the Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are $50 each and will go on sale on Friday, October 8 at 12 pm (noon) EDT. OK, gotta start practicing!
Yo La Tengo’s fall tour continues with two shows at The Chapel in San Francisco October 11 – 12.
