Swedish band Wintergatan spent the past 14 months constructing what is called The Marble Machine music instrument. Utilizing 2000 marbles to produce playback of a song on their hand-built, one-of-a-kind contraption, video of the first track played by The Marble Machine has quickly become a viral sensation.

As seen in the Hannes Knutsson-directed video below, the hand-cranked machine combines parts of conventional instruments with specially forged and tuned materials to project a song. Operating The Marble Machine is composer and chief builder Martin Molin who was aided by Marcus Dimbodius in designing and constructing the massive instrument.

Watch and listen to the amazingly intricate Marble Machine in action below:.
