Willie Nelson will turn 85-years-old on Sunday. Two days prior, the outlaw country legend will issue a new studio album Last Man Standing, which is now available to stream via NPR Music’s First Listen series.
Described in press materials as “one of [Nelson’s] most personal and introspective albums to-date,” the 11-track Last Man Standing follows up last year’s God’s Problem Child. Nelson once again teamed with his longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon to produce and co-write the record’s new songs. Fellow frequent cohorts, harmonica player Mickey Raphael and fiddler/vocalist Alison Krauss also contributed to the album.
