Willie Nelson Guests With Neil Young & Promise Of The Real For Second Night In A Row

At Neil Young & Promise Of The Real’s first show of 2016 back in April, the band was joined by the legendary Willie Nelson in Texas. Nelson reprised the feat on Friday night in Rome and did so once again on Saturday in Lucca. Willie came out towards the middle of the show to sit-in with Neil & POTR, which features his sons Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, on two songs at Piazza Napoleone and then returned for the encore.

Willie Nelson emerged 13 songs into the set to lend a hand on “Are There Any More Real Cowboys” and then led the group through their second-ever take on The Red Headed Stranger’s “On The Road Again.” Both of Willie’s mid-set guest spots came after his son Lukas fronted the ensemble on another version of the Italian classic “Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu,” aka “Volare.” The country legend returned for the encore to duet with Neil on the American Stars ‘N Bars nugget “Homegrown” which was a Neil Young & Promise Of The Real debut. Last night’s show also featured the year’s third versions of “Harvest Moon” and “Change Your Mind.” The tour continues in Milan on Monday night.
