Wilco filmed a “Trail Mix” session behind the Trading Post at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado last month. The sextet offered intimate performances of three songs from their 2022 album Cruel Country before taking the stage at the iconic venue for a Red Rocks concert on September 14.

The latest “Red Rocks Trail Mix” celebrates 25 years since Wilco’s debut at the 9,525-capacity open-air amphitheatre near Denver. Jeff Tweedy first brought the band to Red Rocks on August 28, 1997 as support for Sheryl Crow. Wilco has since played nine additional concerts at the venue.

Tweedy, Nels Cline, Mikael Jorgensen, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone kicked off the 11-minute set with “Falling Apart (Right Now).” Jorgensen was on melodica for a song Wilco would perform with special guest Margo Price at the venue proper. Next up was the pretty “Hints” in which Kotche showed off his handiwork on the brushes.

Wilco closed out the session with “Tired Of Taking It Out On You.” The track is the penultimate song on Cruel Country, the band’s 12th studio album. Unlike the first two tunes, Wilco did not play “Tired Of Taking It Out On You” during their show at Red Rocks later that night.
