Widespread Panic concluded a three-night stand at St. Augustine Amphitheatre in St. Augustine, Florida on Sunday with a concert that featured a pair of rarities. The sextet dusted off an original recorded for 2008’s Free Somehow in the first set and a Neil Young cover in the second.

Panic kicked off their 14th concert at the venue with a seamless run of “Big Wooly Mammoth,” “Pleas” and “Makes Sense To Me.” The band then followed “Send Your Mind” with their first take on Free Somehow gem “Angels On High” since October 21, 2017 – a span of 69 shows. A cover of Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy” was up next before WSP closed out the frame with “Up All Night” and “Conrad.”

When the band returned for the second set, John Bell had a mandolin in hand for the “Ain’t Life Grand” opener. The rest of the 86-minute set was one continuous suite of music featuring one old school classic after another including “Gimme,” “Jack,” “Action Man” and “Tie Your Shoes.” After “Mercy,” Widespread Panic fit a cover of Neil Young’s “Cortez The Killer” within “Fishwater.” WSP last played “Cortez” on July 3, 2016 – a span of 124 shows. Last night was just the seventh ever Panic version of “Cortez.”

The six-piece ended their visit to St. Augustine with a two-song encore. Up first was a take on Tom Petty’s “Honey Bee.” Widespread Panic then said farewell with their own “Dream Song.” Next up for the band is a three-night stand at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium August 23 – 25.
