A few weeks ago Widespread Panic shared an official compilation of their performances of cover songs played as part of Halloween Runs over their long career. The 25-song set only scratched the surface of covers Panic has played to celebrate Halloween and an industrious fan has assembled a Spotify Playlist of the original recordings of 44 one-time-only covers that have arranged by WSP at past shows.
Thanks to Alex Moura a Spotify Playlist featuring over three hours of tracks that have been covered by Widespread Panic is available to stream below. It’s heavy on classic rock, with cuts by The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Frank Zappa, The Doors, Eric Clapton, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Who, as well as Black Sabbath who the band had covered as part of six consecutive recent encores. Metal giants Metallica, grunge icons Nirvana, punk pioneers Ramones, jazz master Miles Davis, art rocker Lou Reed, blues great Muddy Waters, R&B hitmaker Martha Reeves, NOLA legend Dr. John and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin are also part of the diverse collection.
There’s also Nelly’s “Hot In Herre” and on the lighter side there’s Cheech & Chong’s “Earache My Eye” along with Monty Python’s “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.” The songs are presented alphabetically, stream the set Alex compiled below:
