Widespread Panic Ends Fall Tour Repeat-less Song Streak In Alabama

By Andy Kahn Sep 16, 2016 8:14 am PDT

Widespread Panic held the seventh show of their current Fall Tour last night, playing a concert at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in Alabama with Umphrey’s McGee serving as openers. After not repeating a song through the tour’s first six shows, WSP added one more song to the streak before breaking the run at 121 consecutive songs.

The first “Let’s Get Down To Business” of the Fall Tour began the show before the second rendition of “Travelin’ Light” put an end to repeat-less run of tunes. The first set did see tour debuts of Vic Chesnutt’s “Sleeping Man,” as well as “Jamais Vu (The World Has Changed)” and The Guess Who’s “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature,” which served as the closer.

The tour’s first take on Talking Heads’ “Papa Legba” led off the second set, followed by the first fall “Happy” which segued into “Greta.” The subsequent “Solid Rock” was another tour debut as was the “Me And The Devil Blues” that came toward the end of the set. “Porch Song” served as the second half closer and tour’s lone “End Of The Show” and a rendition of “Blackout Blues” made up the two song encore.

Widespread Panic and Umphrey’s McGee will appear again tonight at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta, Georgia. View audience-shot video clips of WSP from last night Tuscaloosa below:
