Ween Offers Live Debut Of ‘Quebec’ Track & Busts Out Oldie In Brooklyn

New Hope rockers Ween brought their most extensive tour since reuniting last year to Brooklyn Steel on Tuesday for the first of two shows at the New York City venue. Ween has dug deep into their back catalog throughout the tour thus far and continued the trend in Brooklyn.
The five-piece kicked off Tuesday night’s show with “The Stallion Pt. 1” and loaded the beginning of the concert with plenty of staples including “Transdermal Celebration,” “Push Th’ Little Daisies,” “Big Jilm” and “Roses Are Free.” One of the biggest surprises of the night came 15 songs into the 27-tune main set, when Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman strapped on an acoustic for “Among His Tribe.” While Ween recorded “Among His Tribe” for their 2003 studio album Quebec, the version in Brooklyn was the live debut by the full band.
Following a number of fan-favorites such as “Piss Up A Rope,” “Pork Roll Egg & Cheese” and “Mister Richard Smoker” came another take on the band’s recently busted out cover of “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie. Another huge treat came next as Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo led his mates through Ween’s first version of the early rarity “Seconds” since August 22, 2002. The quintet then dusted off “The Goin’ Gets Tough From The Getgo” for the first time in 2017 and ended the main set with “It’s Gonna Be A Long Night” and “Someday.” Ween returned to close out the evening with a “Fiesta”/”The Mollusk” encore.
