Ween Minus Gene | Deaner To Play All-Ween Shows With Former Mates

This March, Dean Ween Group will play a series of shows in Charlotte, Atlanta and Asheville, but they won’t be your typical Dean Ween Group shows. Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo has recruited his former Ween band mates Dave Dreiwitz, Glenn McClelland and Claude Coleman Jr. to perform under the “Dean Ween Group” moniker for the three-night run.

The 4/5ths of Ween’s longtime touring lineup will only play Ween tunes throughout the run. Deaner advises “there’s a spot available on the mic,” in reference to Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman, but quickly adds “that’s not gonna happen.” The guitarist says the group will “probably play over 100 tunes over the 3 day run.” Here’s the Facebook post from Melchiondo:

March 19, 20, and 21st in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Asheville is the Dean Ween Group. Me, Claude, Dave and Glenn will be the DWG for 3 days playing all Ween tunes. There’s a spot available on the mic, just saying, but since that’s not gonna happen, come see “the ween minus” for 3 days. We’ll probably play over 100 tunes over the 3 day run.

The regular version of the Dean Ween Group has also added a date at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on February 18.
