B.B. King Blues Club in New York City hosted guitarist Jimmy Vivino’s Blues Revue: An All-Star Fundraiser For The Blues Foundation on Wednesday night. Vivino led an incredible lineup of talented musicians all night long to raise funds for the Memphis-based Blues Foundation. High-quality video of the concert has surfaced for our viewing pleasure.
Jimmy Vivino was the musical director and also led the house band which also featured Will Lee, Danny Louis, Leon Pendarvis, Shawn Pelton, Bette Sussman, Jerry Vivino and Earl Gardner. The parade of special guests sharing the stage with Vivino & Co. included Dion DiMucci, Sam Moore, William Bell, Shemekia Copeland, John Sebastian, Ruthie Foster, Eric Krasno, Bill Sims, Bob Margolin, Scott Sharrard, Joe Louis Walker, Marcus King, Tash Neal, King Solomon Hicks, Danny Clinch, Chris Scianni, Catherine Russell and Chris Barnes. Austin guitarist Gary Clark Jr. also made an unannounced appearance ahead of his gigs at Madison Square Garden on Thursday and Friday.
The incredible evening of music was produced by Greg Williamson and began with the musicians parading onto the stage. Highlights were numerous including Bill Sims on “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad,” Marcus King wowing on “Cry Cry Baby” and “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl,” Sharrard adding to a joyous “Statesboro Blues” and Neal and Krasno providing double guitar attack for “Politician Blues” and “Lucille.” Other key moments were Sam Moore’s sequence of “Get Out Of My Life, Woman,” “Imagine” and “Soul Man” as well as Dion DiMucci leading the house band on “The Wanderer” and more.
