Warren Haynes Welcomes Justin Townes Earle For ‘Willin’ In Boston

Last night Warren Haynes brought the Ashes & Dust Tour to the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. Haynes, along with the Ashes & Dust Band featuring Jeff Sipe and ChessBoxer, were joined by singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle to begin the encore with a Little Feat classic.

The show started off more original-heavy than past performances on the tour, though the main set ended with a sequence featuring a bevy of covers including Bob Dylan’s “You Ain’t Going Nowhere,” Little Feat’s “Skin It Back” and Allman Brothers Band gems “Instrumental Illness” and “Blue Sky.” Haynes and his band went back to originals to end the main set with a song Warren wrote with Phil Lesh – “Spots Of Time.”

When Warren and the Ashes & Dust Band returned to the stage for the encore they were augmented by opener Justin Townes Earle. The ensemble treated the crowd to a passionate reading of Little Feat’s “Willin'” which was a tour debut. The show came to its conclusion with “Two Of A Kind Blues.”

Warren Haynes continues the Ashes & Dust Tour tonight in Westbury, New York.
