Guitarist Joe Bonamassa delivered his annual concert at Red Rocks on Sunday. Bonamassa welcomed his old friend Warren Haynes to sit-in on Albert King’s version of “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home” at the iconic Colorado venue.
Haynes was in the Denver area to perform with his band Gov’t Mule at Red Rocks on Monday as part of their Dark Side Of The Mule Tour, which sees support from Jason Bonham who also joined Bonamassa. Warren came out with Joe about halfway through the latter’s set for a sizzling rendition of “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home.”
Written by Al Jackson Jr. and Timothy Matthews, Ann Peebles recorded the first version of the song in 1971 under the title “I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home Tonight.” Guitar great Albert King recorded the song in 1972.
Gov’t Mule has included “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home” in their live repertoire for over a decade and the band recently included it on their blues album, 2021’s Heavy Load Blues. Feeling right at home on the tune, Warren handled the guitar rides between verses and went toe to toe with Bonamassa to bring the song home.
