Relive the band’s relentless 16-song performance that took place at The Bonnaroo Farm on June 16.

The one positive factor of how rare Vulfpeck performances have been in recent years is the spectacle put into each set. Vulf took the stage for just the second time this year on June 16 at Bonnaroo and turned in a 75-minute, late-night dance party that won’t be forgotten, especially by the couple that tied the knot during the set. Pro-shot video of the must-see performance has been posted on YouTube and can be viewed below.

The Michigan-birthed ensemble assembled on the Which Stage at The Bonnaroo Farm in Manchester, Tennessee at 12:45 a.m. on Friday night/Saturday morning. Vocalist Antwaun Stanley fronted Vulfpeck on the beloved “1612” to kick the 16-song set into a high gear that never relented. Bassist Joe Dart‘s bass is deliciously cranked on the accompanying audio as he worked teases of “Hollywood Swinging” and “Rapper’s Delight” into a ferocious “3 On E” helmed by Stanley in the two-slot.

Jack Stratton embodied his Vulfmon persona on the ensuing “I Can’t Party” off the recently released vulfnik album the Vulf Records label head issued. Stanley then returned to sing “Serve Somebody,” one of four songs from Vulfpeck’s latest LP, Schvitz, to make the setlist at Bonnaroo 2023. After the incredibly funky reworking of the Bob Dylan tune, it was time for Theo Katzman to oversee a wedding ceremony.

Members of Vulfpeck played traditional wedding music as Katzman brought up bride Ashlynn and groom Kyle as well as their families to “celebrate love.” The couple were joined in holy matrimony by Theo in a beautiful and endearing ceremony. Katzman was ordained by the Universal Life Church’s online ordination program to make it a legal wedding.

Once the couple kissed, Vulf turned it up a notch and put their imprint on the occassion. The band, couple, wedding party and production team members danced to traditional Yiddish music, pulled off the Hora Dance and lifted the newlyweds into the air on chairs. Clarinetist Michael Winograd and pianist Josh Dolgin joined Stratton as their Yiddishe Pirat project provided the music for the celebration of Ashlynn and Kyle’s love.

Ashlynn’s older sister weighed in on the experience on Reddit, writing:

Older sister of the bride here. Guys…. This was the most incredible night. I’d never really listened to Vulfpeck, not typically my style of music. But let me tell you- I’ll be a fan for life. These guys embraced my sister and her new husband, showed them so much love and took the time to make this happen for them. Standing up there on stage was electrifying. So much love and light, radiating from the band, audience, all of it. Couldn’t be happier for Ash and Kyle and more grateful to these guys for this unforgettable experience. Every interaction we had with the band was so pleasant. And Theo is an angel. Ash, Kyle, my dad and I had the loveliest conversation with him after their set. These guys couldn’t be more genuine, kind, and TALENTED

As if the first 25 minutes of the set weren’t powerful enough, Vulfpeck went on to reel off one incredible song after another to forge the rest of the performance. Highlights included the euphoric “Animal Spirits,” Cory Wong showcase “Cory Wong,” Dart crushing “Beastly” and the triumphant “Dean Town” finale.
