Vulfpeck Bandleader Performs Bach Piece Using Talkbox
By Scott Bernstein Feb 19, 2016 • 11:23 am PST

Earlier this month we hipped our readers to a wild mashup put together by Vulfpeck band leader Jack Stratton. The always inventive Stratton has shared his latest project and this time he uses a talkbox to perform Bach’s “Contrapunctus IX.”
In the video below we see Stratton play all four voices of the “Contrapunctus IX” fugue on talkbox. For those unfamiliar, Wikipedia describes a talkbox as “an effects unit that allows musicians to modify the sound of a musical instrument by shaping the frequency content of the sound and to apply speech sounds (in the same way as singing).” Think Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way” or Peter Frampton’s “Show Me The Way,” though in this case Jack doesn’t attach a guitar to the talkbox. Check it out:
Next up for Vulfpeck is an appearance at the inaugural Fool’s Paradise in Florida.
