The McCourys are the first family of bluegrass as Ronnie McCoury and Robbie McCoury have been part of their legendary father’s Del McCoury Band since 1981 and 1987 respectively. Each May Del and his family host DelFest, and this year’s installment saw three generations of McCourys share the stage as Del’s two-year-old grandson joined in on a jam at the Maryland festival.

Vassar McCoury, Rob’s child and Del’s seventh grandchild, accompanied members of his family and other musicians during the McCoury’s annual festival. The young fiddler stole the show garnering a big reaction from the crowd. Watch the heart-warming scene captured by B Chord Media:

We have a feeling we’ll be hearing much more from Vassar in the decades to come. Stay tuned for more coverage of DelFest ’15. Check out Greensky Bluegrass’s redemptive “Eyes Of The World” cover from Thursday at DelFest.
