Earlier today we posted a video of The Allman Brothers Band / Steve Winwood performance of Wilson Pickett’s “I Found A Love” that took place at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, NY on Wednesday night. Video of the other song the Allmans and Winwood performed, “The Weight” by The Band, has finally surfaced and as promised we wanted to share it with our readers.
Steve struggles with the lyrics at first, but quickly pulls it together. Winwood and the Allmans are joined by guest sax player Jay Collins, who played the song many times as a member of the Levon Helm Band, for the cover. We’re particularly fond of the solo Derek Trucks lays down. Let’s take a look:
