This Spring, My Morning Jacket will finally release the follow-up to 2011’s Circuital as the first of two new studio albums expected to come out by the end of 2016. MMJ premiered three originals at their One Big Holiday event earlier this year, which may give us a taste of what to expect when the album comes out.

ONLY MEMORIES

Let’s start with the sizzling slow jam “Only Memories,” which clocks in near 10 minutes. My Morning Jacket debuted the song at the final One Big Holiday ’15 show on February 3. Check out video of the tune shot by YameYims:

COMPOUND or COMPOUND FRACTURE

My Morning Jacket debuted a song called either “Compound” or “Compound Fracture” in Mexico on February 1. The heavy-duty rocker sounds straight out of the mid ’70s and features Jim James’ signature howls. There’s plenty of space for jamming and solos on this one. Take a look at YameYims video of the tune:

BIG D

“Big D” is how the original My Morning Jacket debuted at the first One Big Holiday show on January 31 was listed on the band’s stage setlist. The only media of the tune to surface so far is 47-second clip with distorted audio shot by PeteLikesMusic. Here it is:

We can’t wait to hear more of the waterfall of new material Jim James and Co. have cooked up. Look for the new MMJ album and accompanying tour to be announced soon.
