As reported, the final day of the 2017 Lockn’ Festival featured a headlining set by The Avett Brothers who were joined by Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. Video footage of the pair of acts rehearsing a staple of the Dead’s repertoire has been made available to view.

Bobby joined The Avetts for several songs during the set performed last Sunday in Arlington, Virginia. Weir led the band through the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter favorite “Mission In The Rain,” and also collaborated on The Avett Brothers’ “Go To Sleep,” as well as covers of “The Race Is On” by George Jones, “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard, Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and “I Shall Be Released” and the traditional “I Know You Rider.”

The collaboration also saw an arrangement of the folk standard “Goin’ Down The Road Feeling Bad.” Captured by Jay Blakesberg, view footage of The Avett Brothers and Bob Weir rehearsing “GDTRFB” before their Lockn’ set below:
